Rehearsals

Rehearsals are held from 6.15pm to 8.15pm on Tuesdays in the City of London

  • We also live-stream our rehearsals on Zoom - joining details are shown on the weekly email.

  • The Autumn term starts on 6th September:

    • From 6th September to 18th October at St Mary Moorfields

    • From 25th October to 29th November at St Andrew Holborn

    • Open evening at St Mary Moorfields on 13th September - all welcome

  • Autumn Term programme:

    • In September we will rehearse three pieces: Fantasia on Christmas Carols (Vaughan Williams), False Love (Elgar) and Kleine Orgelmesse (Haydn)

    • From October, we put the Haydn and Elgar “on the back burner” (we’ll be performing these sometime in 2023) and turn our attention to repertoire for our Christmas concert.

  • Christmas concert programme:

    • O little town of Bethlehem (with audience)

    • The Blessed Son of God (Vaughan Williams)

    • God is born among us (Archer)

    • Torches (Joubert)

    • O come all ye faithful (with audience)

    • Hark the herald angels sing (with audience)

    • Winter wonderland

    • White Christmas

  • Concert on Friday 2nd December 2022 at 7.30pm at St Andrew Holborn (rehearsal at 4pm)

  • Covid:

    • No-one should attend if they are unwell, specifically if they have Covid symptoms; have tested positive for Covid and are within their isolation period; or have been told by NHS Track & Trace to self-isolate.​

  • 2023 dates

    • Spring Term 2023 runs from Tuesday 3 January until 28 March 2023

    • Summer Term 2023 runs from Tuesday 18 April to 4 July 2023

    • Dutch exchange on 29/30 April or 6/7 May 2023, return visit T.B.C.

    • Summer concert on 7 July 2023 at 7.30 p.m. at St Andrew Holborn.

    • Autumn Term runs from Tuesday 5 September to 5 December 2023

    • Christmas concert on 8 December 2023 at 7.30 p.m. at St Andrew Holborn.​​​

City Chorus is a friendly, hard working choir, open to all with no audition. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings in the city and perform several times a year in beautiful venues.

 

Our musical director is Paul Ayres and our accompanist (piano and organ) is Philip Shannon. Our concerts feature top professional musicians.

 

We are looking for new singers.
