Rehearsals

Rehearsals are held from 6.15pm to 8.15pm on Tuesdays in the City of London, mostly at St Andrew Holborn, EC4A 3AF.

  • Autumn term 2025

    • The Autumn Term runs from Tuesday 9 September to Tuesday 2 December 2025

    • Programme:

      • O magnum mysterium (Lauridsen)

      • O magnum mysterium (De Vittoria)

      • While shepherds watched (Audience and Choir)

      • Shepherds farewell (Berlioz)

      • Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace (Wesley)

      • Noel Nouvelet (arr Humphris)

      • The Holly and the Ivy (Audience and Choir)

      • To Drive Cold Winter Away (Willcocks)

      • Tomorrow shall be my dancing day (Gardner)

      • Ding Dong Merrily (Audience and Choir)

      • Carol of the bells (Leontovic)

      • Jingle Bells (arr Ayres)

      • O come all ye faithful (Audience and Choir)

      • Ring out Wild Bells (Fletcher)

    • Rehearsals are at St Andrew Holborn, except for 18th November when it will be at St Giles Cripplegate, and 2nd December when it will be at St Mary at Hill.

    • The Christmas concert will be on 5th December 2025, at St Andrew Holborn

  • Spring term 2026

    • The Autumn Term runs from Tuesday 6 January to Tuesday 24 March 2026

    • Programme:

      • The main work will be Joseph Haydn’s “Missa in Augustiis”, more commonly known as The Nelson Mass. This is a grand work along the lines of the Mozart Requiem and will be with orchestra and soloists.

      • A medley of arias/motets from Handel’s Messiah,

      • Brahms’s “How lovely is thy dwelling place” from his German Requiem.

    • Rehearsals are at St Andrew Holborn, except for 3rd March (venue TBC).

    • The Spring concert will be on 5th December 2025, at St Andrew Holborn

    • Saturday 24 January – Workshop at St Andrew Holborn.

    • Friday 27 March, Spring concert at 7.30 p.m., at St Andrew Holborn.

  • ​Summer 2026

    • Tuesday 14 April to Tuesday 7 July, rehearsals will be primarily at St Andrew Holborn from 6.15 p.m. to 8.15 p.m. Please note that the venue for the rehearsal on Tuesday 16 June is TBC.

    • Saturday 11 July, Joint Summer Concert with the Bath Choirs at 7.30 p.m., at St Andrew Holborn.

    • Summer Workshops will be held on Tuesday evenings at St Andrew Holborn on 21 July, 4 August and 18 August from 6.15 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.

  • Autumn 2026

    • Tuesday 8 September to Tuesday 1 December, rehearsals will be primarily at St Andrew Holborn from 6.15 p.m. to 8.15 p.m. Please note that the venues for the rehearsals on Tuesday 17 November and Tuesday 1 December are TBC.

    • Friday 4 December, Christmas Concert at 7.30 p.m., at St Andrew Holborn​

City Chorus is a friendly, hard working choir, open to all with no audition. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings in the city and perform several times a year in beautiful venues.

 

Our musical director is Paul Ayres and our accompanist (piano and organ) is Philip Shannon. Our concerts feature top professional musicians.

 

We are looking for new singers.
