Following government advice on the current Coronavirus pandemic we are regretfully further postponing our 100th anniversary concert until 2022. The welfare of our supporters and members is paramount.

Mozart Coronation Mass and Handel Zadok the Priest
City Chorus will commemorate 100 years of choral singing with 100 voices, professional soloists and large orchestra (Royal College of Music instrumentalists). Famously convivial, City Chorus concerts are great fun: full of family, friends and fans of the choir. Our Centenary event will be a celebration as well as a memorable concert. We will commence with festive refreshments when doors open at 6.45pm and there will also be refreshments at the interval.
“City Chorus is one of the longest running amateur choirs in London. In 2020 it celebrates one hundred years of continuous music making. Even at the height of the Blitz, after the first shock had passed, a small group of Choir members, led by Gerry Darling, continued to meet and sing, and kept the idea of the Choir going. Over its one hundred years, the Choir has faced many hurdles, and undergone many changes of name, but its core identity has remained constant. It is a group of enthusiastic amateur singers who give up their time every Tuesday evening to create something together: to sing, listen, work and laugh together. There is something very special and very liberating about submerging your worries, ambitions and desires to a communal project, where the sum is so much bigger than its parts.”
Singing the Century: City Chorus at 100 by Georgia Brown
City Chorus is a friendly, hard working choir, open to all with no audition. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings in the city and perform several times a year in beautiful venues.
Our musical director is Paul Ayres and our accompanist (piano and organ) is Philip Shannon. Our concerts feature top professional musicians.
